Lamont's story

“Second chances aren't a slogan to me. They're personal.”

Lamont Hampton, founder of HOPE

A life rebuilt. A commitment to keep showing up.

Lamont Hampton was born and raised in Compton, California. He was the second oldest of six children in a single parent household. His grandmother served homeless women and children through The House of Redeemed, showing him what committed care looked like.

At 19, Lamont was incarcerated. While there, he earned his GED and learned trades. He was released in 2001 and began rebuilding his life while facing the barriers that came with having a record.

Those experiences are part of his story, but they are not the whole story. Over time, Lamont became known for mentoring young people, connecting people to resources and opportunities, building trust, and showing up when it mattered.

He listens first. He speaks honestly about his own mistakes. He follows through. His approach brings relationship, accountability, and opportunity together because progress is rarely built alone.
